The Tiger Town Observer

Back in early 2016, in the middle of my sophomore year in college, a wave of protests hit Clemson University, decrying its history, faculty behavior, and campus culture. All of this came off the heals of a controversy that was politicized and used as evidence of the activists’ worldview. It’s a lot to rehash here (and quite frankly, it’s pretty embarrassing), but what unfolded would kickstart my involvement with politics. The frustrations with the protests gave rise to a group of concerned students eager to defend freedom of speech and fight disinformation. The coalition they formed would soon become the largest dissenter to the status-quo campus politics, and would shock send a shockwave through Clemson after breathing new life into its most potent weapon: The Tiger Town Observer, Clemson University’s alternative political news source.
